Guy began his career as an Art Director with the prestigious advertising agency Benton & Bowles in Montreal, Canada. There he worked on national print, radio and television accounts and was responsible for print advertising, design and direction of consumer materials, including magazines, packaging and collateral. His collaboration with radio and television ad production crews involved location and studio art direction.
After relocating to the United States, his responsibilities, as Design Director of The National Archives in Washington, D.C, encompassed design and oversight of all publications for public programs and exhibitions. The stability of a prestigious government position and love of history could not contain his abilities for long. The success of his freelance opportunities called him to open his own company.
In 1981, Guy founded Schum & Stober Advertising and Design with then business partner, Clare Stober. The firm later became known as Schum & Associates. Schum & Associates, under his direction, has produced award-winning advertising campaigns, annual reports, corporate collateral, direct mail and web sites for hundreds of companies—large and small. With an emphasis on results-oriented solutions, memorable copy, and compelling design, the work has been characterized as energetic, sophisticated, hard-hitting and memorable. |
